In February 2011 one of Manchester's most respected nights of electronic music returns from a short hiatus - and back to devastating form. Heading up the billing is pioneering Birmingham artist Surgeon. Consistently on point since day one, his early releases such as Magneze and Basictonalvocabulary helped paved the way to a hugely successful career that has seen him rise to the top of his game as both producer and DJ. His DJ sets set him apart from his peers - deep and epic journeys into not just techno, but a whole wealth of electronic music, taking in genres as diverse as industrial, dubstep and noise along the way. For our February event we have also secured a rare UK performance from Grovskopa, the Swedish producer and DJ currently making waves throughout the underground with his trademark off-beat and industrial take on techno.

Jay has been one of Manchester's leading lights in techno since 2003 - living and breathing the genre in an all-encompassing way as a DJ, producer, A&R head and event promoter. Using a turnatables and Serato setup, Jay has gained momentum as a DJ... developing his deadly and uncompromising style over the years, and getting international recognition for his skills as a selector. Highly respected by both his peers and by those who follow his successful mix series, Jay has earned the chance to play alongside some of techno's most successful DJ's including Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Sandwell District, Ben Sims, Gaiser and Chris Liebing, at some of the UK's finest events including Detatached, Voodoo, Colour and Sequence.

Voodoo returns for its last party of its 17th year.

With resident Steve Shiels and friends playing host in what is undoubtedly our most special venue to date.

Where better for a brand steeped in heritage than a building that is undoubtedly one of the most historic in the city.

Joining us will be one of our favourites and undoubtedly one of the most influential DJ/Producers of our times.
Originally from the Hispanic neighborhood of Detroit, ROLANDO met Mad Mike and joined the Underground Resistance label. His Latin influenced music stands out from the usual techno productions. One of his first EPs, produced under the pseudonym The Aztec Mystic, co-written with Mike Banks and Gerald Mitchell, entitled Knights of the Jaguar EP (UR-049) was one of the best selling techno records of all time.

Friday Jan 22nd 2010

@Sankeys , Radium St , Manchester

10:30pm - 6am

Following a packed out party with Dave Clarke and Technasia we start the new year with a international killer line up with some of the most talked about artists in Techno.

Featuring...

ROBERT HOOD (UR)

Robert Hood needs little introduction. The American electronic music producer and DJ was is a founding member of the legendary group Underground Resistance as a 'Minister Of Information' with Mad Mike Banks & Jeff Mills. He is often considered to be a founder of minimal techno. The last time Robert Hood played Sankeys he blew the roof off , be ready for more of the same !

FRANK LORBER (COCOON)

Frank Lorber is working as a professional DJ worldwide for almost 17 years now, and he is a long time member of Cocoon. May it be at Womb in Tokyo or in Ibiza at Amnesia – Frank has played in all the big clubs on this planet. Not only as a solo artist he already released in the past years on labels like Cocoon Recordings & Harthouse. His last album Jailhouse Rocker was released on Cocoon Recordings and showed once more the choice of Franks great flexibility.

JAMES RUSKIN (TRESOR , BLUEPRINT)

London born and based techno producer and DJ. James Ruskin comes from a background that first put him in touch with hip-hop and electro and later with the emerging detroit techno scenes. This inspired him to become a DJ in 1991 and venture into production with studio-partner Richard Polson by 1994. Founded Blueprint with Polson in 1996. As Blueprint grew, he delivered his first solo releases and appeared elsewhere as remixer and co-producer.
