Karl O’Connor, better known under the guise of Regis, has without a doubt played a major role in the development of the industrial techno genre. Karl is England`s reigning heir to the throne of electronic incognito and influences for his tastes lie scattered mostly among the early UK pioneers such as Throbbing Gristle, Robert Rental, Cabaret Voltaire, Fad Gadget and Wire

His own imprint ‘Downwards’ launched to critical acclaim in 1993, has portrayed the birth and development of the Birmingham sound through it’s often dark and uncompromising releases from Karl himself and fellow co-conspirators Surgeon and Female. Without being market-led, it was a fresh new statement and from raw talent, but most important for the sound was the unmistakable imprint of O`Connor`s hand in the art. His productions have continually broken through new musical barriers since the early nineties and over the years Karl has remixed artists as diverse as Dj Hell, Damon Wild, Surgeon, DAF and Liasions Dangereuses.

Karl has played out at the most high profile club nights all over the world and is a proven performer. As a solo artist he plays a digitally edited set from laptop, featuring both his own material and cutups of other artists productions. He is also one half of the groundbreaking British Murder Boys along with Dj Surgeon, a unique, stylish and brutal performance abusing modern technologies and occupying the grey area between live act and Dj.
